Listen to the Message

2 Corinthians 4:18
When you keep your eyes focused on that which is in the distance, it helps you keep your eyes focused on that which is very close.
"Therefore we do not lose heart."
Fixing our eyes.
It means we "focus" our eyes on certain things.
We repair and improve our spiritual vision.
1. Fix Your Eyes on Jesus.
  • We begin to see our situation with a new clarity.
  • ...let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)
  • When your problems loom large, step aside for a moment, and look to Jesus.
2. Fix Your Eyes on Those Whom You Are Called to Serve.
  • "We have this ministry,"
  • This is why we focus on what Jesus can do, not what we can do.
  • So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
  • Your efforts, at times, might not be fully appreciated.
  • Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (2 Timothy 2:10)
3. Fix Your Eyes on God's On-Going Work in Your Life.
  • So don't lose sight of all that God is doing in your life.
  • He understood that his life had significance only because he was a sinner transformed by God's grace.
  • When you follow Jesus, the victories keep coming.
  • ... for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again. (Proverbs 24:16)
  • "My life has been tough in many ways."
  • But look at how far I've come.
  • The further ahead you can see, the greater your capacity to endure today.
