Matthew 2:10-11
Please use your imagination for a moment and visualize the manger scene.
Matthew 2:10-11 “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasure and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
I t would be 1 to 10 quadrillion.
- Gold symbolizes the Kingship of Jesus.
- Frankincense symbolizes Jesus as the Great High Priest.
- Myrrh represented Jesus as the Suffering Servant or the Lamb of God.
Isaiah 53:4, 5, 7 “Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted…He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep, before its shearers are silent, so He did not open His mouth.”
“All of us, like sheep, have gone astray.”
- They’re weak.
- They’re witless.
- They’re wayward.
“You are wayward; you will stray away from God’s path.”
Isaiah 53:6 “All of us like sheep have strayed away. We’ve left God’s path to follow our own, and yet the Lord laid on Him the suffering servant, the One who would be called Jesus. He laid on Him all our sins.”
I will stand for the truth of the Word of God.
I will be sure His church is strong and powerful.
I will be certain that His Word is not hidden.
I’ll be certain that my life will be a light in the darkness.
I’ll be glad to sing and say, “Glory to God in the Highest, peace on earth, goodwill toward men,” and not be timid, ashamed, or afraid.
“Remove this cup of suffering from Me.”
“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Yet, Father, not My will, but Your will be done.”
The Way of Suffering.
“My God, My God, why have You pulled away, or forsaken Me?”
Luke 9:22-23 “ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and He must be killed. On the third day, raised to life. And He said to all, ‘If anyone would come after Me, let him take up his cross daily and follow Me.’ ”
That gift meant that Jesus was born to die, but His death represented the key to eternal life.
He loves everyone and He can use anyone.
He has a place for you, and a plan for you.
