Nehemiah 4:1-3

Defeating discouragement and overcoming opposition.
Somebody needed to do something.
Nehemiah brought the first hope to the Jews.
"We can rebuild the wall."
He tried to bring discouragement.
We don't face opposition because we're doing something wrong. We face opposition because we're doing something right.

#1.   The enemy will try to discourage you from the outside.

  • Nehemiah 4:1-3 "When Sanballat heard we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews."
    (1) You will face obstacles.
    (2)  You will face criticism.
  • "You're feeble, weak Jews. You're never going to get anything done! You are hopeless."
    ·    He took it to God repeatedly.
    ·    He went back to work.

#2. The enemy will oppose you from the inside out.

  • Nehemiah 4:10 "Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, ‘The strength of our laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall.'"
  • "I can't do it any longer!"
  • "Don't be afraid of them because if God is for us, who can be against us?"
  • We never have to be afraid of the enemy.
  • Remember the Lord your God.
  • They needed to remember .......
  • We not only remember who God is, but we fight for a cause.
  • "Don't fight for yourself. Instead, fight for your brothers, your sons, daughters, wives, and homes."
  • We don't give up or shut up until the project is done.
  • We do not surrender, we do not give up.
  • Sing one song.................
