Judges 6:11-16; 7:9-16
God used Gideon to try and correct the wrongs of His people.
#1. What does God see in you and me?
Judges 6:12 (NIV) “When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’”
Judges 2:10 (NIV) “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what He had done for Israel.”
They failed to take advantage of God’s favor and guidance.
They entered the Promised Land with a wilderness mentality.
Getting by was enough for them, and they did not maximize the opportunity.
Gideon viewed his life as hopeless and fighting only for survival.
God views us from His perspective and the plans and potential He has for us in life.
“I am with you; I have sent you.”
"I am with you everyday, even unto the end of time." (Matthew 28:20)
Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)
1. It's OK to wonder why.
2. It's OK to Question Your Qualifications.
3. It's OK to ask God to Confirm His Word.
#2. How can God use us?
Every great leader embraces the characteristics of humility.
Proverbs 22:4 (NIV) “Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.”
Matthew 18:4 (NIV) “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of God.”
God looks at the heart and willingness to follow.
Romans 12:3 (NIV) “For by the grace given me, I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.”
James 4:10 (NIV) “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
#3. What does God desire from anyone?
Judges 7:15 (NIV) “When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped God. He returned to the camp of Israel and called out, ‘Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hand.’”
God wants us to learn to trust Him and live in that trust daily.
“I want to be possible.”
The presence of the Lord in your life will bring the best in you.
