I Can See Clearly Now – Part 2
John 9:1-38
#1. Questions on our Journey.
“How many times do I sin before God’s judgment is going to come upon me?”
God is always just.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING TO BELIEVE IN SOMETHING.
#2. There are many things in life also that are undeniable.
John 9:1 “As Jesus went along, He saw a man blind from birth.”
John 9:2 “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
It’s wrong, but they believe it.
John 9:3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”
#3. What we call setbacks are setups for God to be glorified.
Joseph thought that was an amazing statement.
That was a huge setback for Joseph.
“That is a setback. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to rule over anybody.”
Go tend your sheep.
A setback brought a setup so that God might be glorified.
Sometimes we make mistakes because of our hardheadedness, because of our own choices.
You must stay close to Jesus, and follow His word.
I must practice the disciplines that I know to be correct.
John 9:6 “He spit on the ground, made some mud with saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes.”
John 9:7 “Go and wash in the Pool of Siloam.”
John 9:8 “His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, ‘Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?’”
John 9:9 “Some claimed, ‘Yeah, I think he was.’ Others said, ‘No, no, no. It’s not him.’”
John 9:10 “’How then were your eyes opened?’ they demanded.”
#4. Everything we face will not be in our area of expertise.
John 9:13 “They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind.”
John 9:14 “Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.”
Opening blinded eyes is work and you don’t work on the Sabbath.
John 9:15 “Therefore the Pharisees also asked how he had received his sight. ‘He put mud on my eyes,’ the man replied, ‘and I washed, and now I see.’”
John 9:16 “This man, Jesus, He’s not from God for He doesn’t keep the Sabbath.’”
Because they didn’t understand, they couldn’t believe it.
“I was blind but now I see.”
“Where two or three are gathered together, in their midst, you will see a move of God’s Spirit.”
“The Holy Spirit knows no generation.”
John 9:24 “…they summoned the man a second time who had been blind. They declared that Jesus was a sinner and not a saint. The blind man replied, ‘Whether He is a sinner or not, one thing I know for sure, I was blind but now I see. I don’t know whether it was right to do what He did on the Sabbath, but I know I was blind and now I see.’”
Just because I don’t understand doesn’t mean it does not happen.
But it’s undeniable – you are here.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
The Word of God is still powerful.
John 9:30-32 “Now that is remarkable. You don’t know where He comes from, yet He opened my eyes. Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.”
John 10:1-3 “I tell you the truth. The man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. But the man who enters by the gate is the shepherd. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his sheep by name and leads them out.”
“All I know is I once was blind, but now I see.”
“I Can See Clearly Now.”
