Proverbs 3:22(NLT) “The Lord hates people with twisted hearts, but He delights in those who have integrity.”
When the integrity of the hull was damaged, the ship was doomed.
“The Titanic is a metaphor of life. We’re all on the Titanic.”
We divide our lives into little bite-sized pieces.
The quality or state of being complete, undivided, or incorruptible.
#1. Why is integrity important?
It pleases God.
God hates deception, but He loves integrity.
"What does it matter?"
"I can take this little step of dishonesty."
It affects others.
Proverbs 20:7 (NCV) “Good people who live honest lives will be a blessing to their children.”
Proverbs 11:11 "The influence of good people makes a city great."
Proverbs 14:34 (ICV) "Doing what is right makes a nation great."
People who do not believe are living all around us, so we should live a good life.
It blesses me.
Proverbs 11:5-6 (The Message) “Moral character makes for smooth traveling; an evil life is a hard life. Good character is the best insurance.”
“One of the things about integrity is you don’t have to have a long memory.”
"Has it been easy doing the wrong thing?"
Evil is “live” spelled backwards.
Confidence.
#2. How to live with integrity.
1. Speak the truth.
Proverbs 12:22 “The Lord hates liars but is pleased with those who keep their word.”
Check out the reality of a person's positive character.
Ephesians 4:15 (Amplified) “Let our lives lovingly express the truth in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly.”
The truth sets people free.
Proverbs 4:24 (The Message) “Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth. Avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip.”
2. Stand for what’s right.
2 Corinthians 13:8 “Our responsibility is never to oppose the truth, but to stand for the truth at all times.”
Standing for their rights.
The Bible says to speak the truth in love.
James 4:17 “When a person knows the right thing to do but doesn’t do it, then he is sinning.”
Proverbs 20:28 (The Message) “Sound leadership is founded on loving integrity.”
3. Stay clean.
Philippians 2:15 "You're to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of crooked and perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before them."
Choose the right friends.
1 Corinthians 15:33 “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Value integrity more than image.
It doesn't matter if it is great or not, if it looks great.
“Our greatest pretenses are built up not to hide our evil but to hide our emptiness.”
Proverbs 28:6 “It’s better to be a poor person who has integrity than to be rich and double-dealing.”
What's more important to me – truth or things?
Watch what you watch.
Psalm 101:2-3 “I will live a life of integrity in my own home. I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.”
Proverbs 15:14 (NLT) “The wise person is hungry for the truth, but the fool feeds on trash.”
How big a hole does it take to sink a boat?
A hole in the boat is a hole in the boat!
"A crooked a perverse generation among whom you may shine as lights in a dark world."
