Revival

Isaiah 42:1-17

What an exciting time to be involved in the church!

Ask yourself a few questions:

Does my heart burn within for revival?

"You have left your first love." Revelation 2:4.

#1.    Time of spiritual renewal.

What is revival?

Isaiah suggests in our text that revival is in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

·    Jesus is God's elect.

·    God's soul is delighted in Him.

·    God has put His spirit upon Him.

·    God has commissioned Him for service.

Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me."

·    Preach the Gospel to the poor.

·    Heal the broken-hearted.

·    Preach deliverance to the captive.

·    Recover the sight of the blind.

·    Heal those who are bruised.

·    Sets aside race and ethnic barriers.

·    Brings the church together.

·    Sets the Jew beside the Gentile.

·    Heals the broken marriage.

·    Excites the church toward the future.

·    Chases sin out of the camp of the believer.

"Revival is here - let's get on with the work of the Spirit."

Revival is for those who want it, feel it, see it, believe it, and will commit to it.

Matthew 18:20 (NIV) "For where two or three come together in My name, there am I with them."

#2.  Time for Redemption.

Isaiah 42:9 (NIV) "See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you."

·    redemption.

·    grace.

·    mercy.

We are told not to judge.

We are no longer condemned.

Our sins are removed.

Jesus' blood conquers Satan's power.

The Spirit of God holds Satan at a distance.

Matthew 25:13 (NIV) "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

#3.    Time of judgment coming.

·    The Lord will don the garments of war.

·    He will initiate the war.

·    He will advance His fury against darkness.

Isaiah 42:14 (NIV) "For a long time I have kept silent, I have been quiet and held myself back. But now, like a woman in childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant."

1 Corinthians 15:52 (NIV) "In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."

Just as God has been patient and full of mercy, He will be as intense with His judgment.

A Law is a "statement, a principle, or a maxim which has no exceptions."

God is always ready to have a revival – He's just waiting on us to fulfill the right conditions.

Do we WANT revival?

It turns the ashes of life into something beautiful.

Like the Fire Weed, let's let the Holy Spirit fire activate a new surge of spiritual life in us.
