Genesis 5:18-24; Hebrews 11:5
"Thank you"
Enoch walked with God
It's a journey of seeking God's path and living according to His principles.
Walking always implies movement, progress, and direction.
"Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God" (Genesis 6:9).
"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him" (Colossians 2:6).
#1. Man’s worst enemy - His ego.
Romans 12:3 (NIV) "For by the grace given me, I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you."
"The idea or opinion you have of yourself."
Romans 12:1, 2 (NIV) "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship."
Proverbs 16:18 (NIV) "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
"First pride, then the crash, the bigger the ego, the harder the fall."
#2. Man’s greatest fear - Failure.
Matthew 26:33 (NIV) "Peter replied, ‘Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.’"
Men go over the edge and function out of fear and anger to succeed in life.
"You will deny Me three times."
Working for the right reasons and failing is not nearly as bad as working for the wrong reasons and succeeding.
Matthew 5:3, 5, 7 (NIV) "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven...Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth...Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
True success comes from the man who knows he can win, but fails so that those he loves can win.
#3. Man’s greatest quest - Walk with God.
Genesis 5:24 (NIV) "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."
Humility ruled his heart.
1 Peter 5:6 (NIV) "Humble yourselves therefore under God’s mighty hand that He may lift you up in due time."
2 Timothy 2:24, 25 (NIV) "And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him, he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth."
1 Corinthians 13:2 (NIV) "If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing."
