Colossians 2:6-7
And always spill over with thankfulness.
The most intense moments of thankfulness are not found in times of plenty, but when difficulties abound.
Their gratitude was not for something but in something.
We must learn to be thankful or we become bitter.
We can learn to express thanks to God regardless of the circumstances.
#1. Willing Expressions of Gratitude
The Bible says an awful lot about standing up and shouting out loud.
“What will please God the most?”
To overflow with thankfulness means to thank God with all of our hearts every chance we get.
My point is that God deserves the best praise and thanks that we can give Him.
It shouldn’t be too much to celebrate with joy over how much God loves us and takes care of us.
God enjoys hearing joyful songs of praise and thanksgiving from His people.
The Lord is worthy of the best expressions of praise that we can give Him.
#2. Getting the Right Perspective
“Know that the LORD is God.”
Only the LORD is worthy to receive our praise, overflowing thanks, and worship.
We belong to the One who created us- the Lord.
To know Him is to love Him.
Our hearts will only find rest in Him, our Maker.
#3. Offering a Gift of Gratitude
It refers to a sacrifice of thanksgiving or praise, or a song of thanksgiving or praise.
Does your life strike up a song of praise to the Lord that causes others to join in and sing along?
Thanks and praise should always be in our hearts and on our lips, as we recognize God in every area of our lives.
Often we are so eager to be blessed by God that we forget to bless Him.
#4. Finding the Proper Motivation
Because nobody can be righteous without the Lord’s help.
We still live in a fallen world where there will be pain and misery because of sin.
His love endures forever.
We can count on God’s love.
He will see us through, no matter what we are facing.
We should approach Him with thankful hearts full of praise, blessing His name.
How are you doing in the area of gratitude?
There is no sin greater than the sin of ingratitude.
