Listen to the Message

Ephesians 2:8-10

Have I missed out on something?
You have a purpose.
You have a purpose, a reason for being here, and a role to play.
We are not saved by works, but we're created for the purpose of doing good works.
"He went around doing good." (Acts 10:38)
We're called to a life of service.

1. A Life of Service Brings Benefit to Others.
  • It will involve serving others.
  • How can I do this in a way that will require the least of me?
  • Their ability to focus on something other than themselves.
  • ...whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. (Proverbs 11:25)
  • "You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
2. A Life of Service Brings Attention to God.
  • The purpose of the gift is not to bring glory to you, but to bring glory to God.
  • We're not doing good works for the good of ourselves.
  • Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory... (Psalm 115:1)
  • Will my actions today draw attention to me, or to God?
3. A Life of Service Brings You Closer to God.
  • SERVE.
  • The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve.
  • God's long-range plan for your life is that you become like Jesus
  • "We were deep in the earth with our faces to the coal."
  • Your service to God is essential.
  • But they will get you through this life.
  • "Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6:8)
  • Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. (Proverbs 11:25)
