Listen to the Message

Psalm 118:5-9
The death of Christ paid the price for our sins.
There is nothing in this world that the power of God's love cannot conquer.
None are able to live in victory without God's help.
You can experience God's presence and His peace in the middle of a mess.
When you begin to understand this simple yet powerful truth, your life will change.
This means that you can count on God for everything in your life.
"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
1. You can count on God in times of trouble.
  • In your distress call upon the Lord.
  • You are greatly underestimating the power of God.
  • It means a place of abundance, a place of prosperity, a place of opportunity.
  • God wants to put you in a large place, a place of possibility.
  • (v. 6) The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?
  • "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
2. You can count on God when you can count on no one else.
  • You're not as alone as you sometimes let yourself think.
  • The people in your life are just people -- they're as fallible as you are.
  • There will be times when people let you down.
  • It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
  • God is your source.
  • "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7)
3. You can count on God to correct you.
  • "A man's own folly ruins his life; yet his heart rages against the Lord." (Proverbs 19:3)
  • If you get on the wrong path, God will help you get back on the right path.
  • There is a difference between correction and punishment.
  • The purpose is not to make your kids feel pain; the purpose is to see to it that they stop this self- destructive behavior.
  • He does whatever He has to do in order to get us back to where we need to be.
  • If you're in the middle of a mess right now, God will help you out of it -- first, get centered in Him, get focused on Him.
  • God is for you.
