1 Corinthians 10:14-33
Is it OK to eat meat that has been sacrificed to a pagan god?
"Woe is me if I don't preach the gospel."
He challenges the Corinthians to see the big picture principles.
How do we determine what our position will be in these gray areas.

1. Have I taken the time to think this matter through?
  • Our way.
  • "I speak to reasonable people."
  • Have I taken the time to thoroughly think this matter through, or am I just parroting what I heard someone else say?
2. Which choice is the most constructive for all?
  • "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. (1 Corinthians 6:12 ESV)
  • "I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive.
  • What is best for everyone?
  • If something makes another person falter in their faith, let's refrain from doing it.
  • What is the most loving, uplifting, and constructive choice we can make?
3. Which path most glorifies God?
  • How much sin can I get away and still make it to heaven?
  • How far can I push the envelope and to what extent can I bend the rules and still qualify as spiritual?
  • How can I bring the most glory to God in my every action and interaction with others?
  • We need to get to the point where bringing glory to God matters more than any "liberty" we might indulge.
  • Jesus. Others. You.
  • Let your eyes look straight ahead, and fix your gaze directly before you. (Proverbs 4:25)
  • The objective is that we live this day with intention.
