The Un-Wisdom of God

1 Corinthians 2:1-16     
 
 
"Crisp and clean and no caffeine — never had it, never will."     
 
As a kind of wisdom that is functionally the opposite of traditional wisdom.
He's dismissing the world's wisdom
None of them offered the Truth .
The fullness of truth can be found only in the person of Jesus Christ.
A God-brand of wisdom
What is God's wisdom?
He claimed to be the truth.
Jesus is all you need.
The fullness of life is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
He is the fullness of God's wisdom.
 
1. A Life of Power
  • Power is promised to those who surrender their lives to the will of God.
  • You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you shall be my witnesses...(Acts 1:8)
  • The gospel was, and is, power.
  • The power to change.
  • The wisdom of God brings with it a life of power.
2. A Life of Promise.
  • For our glory.
  • "It's for your glory — the glory of my people."
  • And make them into something beautiful and lovely and pure.
  • This is where the gospel of Christ stands in great contrast to the wisdom of the world.
  • V9 "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" — the things God has prepared for those who love Him.
  • He's saying that it is beyond our ability to imagine all that God has prepared for His people
  • Your life has been marked with a promise.
  • God's wisdom brings with it a life of promise.
3. A Life Filled With God's Presence.
  • We have the mind of Christ.
  • We have His presence, always.
  • The more time you spend with Jesus, the more you begin to think like Him.
  • This is why Paul says that we have not received the spirit of the world
  • We need His presence more than ever.
  • "The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone."
  • We can rely on the assurance of God's presence in our lives, no matter what happens.
  • "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)
  • The source of a new kind wisdom beyond the world's ability to imagine.
  • The message that God has for His people is just the opposite.
  • His power is the power you need.
  • Never mistake knowledge for wisdom
  • One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.
  • Wisdom is not something you know. It's something you show.
